The Stuxnet computer virus attacked Iran’s nuclear centrifuges, was developed and unleashed by Israel in collaboration with the U.S. National Security Agency. This was announced by ex-CIA officer Edward Snowden in an interview with German magazine Der Spiegel. According to him, the United States NSA is actively cooperating with Israel, the entire department called the Directorate of Foreign Affairs being responsible for the international cooperation.
In 2010 and 2012, the computers connected with the centrifuges that enrich uranium in a nuclear reactor, were severely damaged by the Stuxnet virus. Tehran has accused the U.S. and Israel of cyber diversion. According to experts, the Stuxnet virus resulted in stalling of Iran’s nuclear engineers for several years.
