Several dozen young people gathered in front of the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek, demanding the immediate withdrawal of the U.S. military base from Kyrgyzstan and protesting against the Afghan transit of NATO's military equipment and cargo.
"We are against the American tanks to come to our land. Look at what happens with those countries through which the American military machine had swept. Iraq, Libya, where the Americans were trying to impose their democracy, are destroyed. They left behind chaos. The states are almost completely destroyed. American soldiers have left behind breeding grounds of terrorist organizations," said during the meeting the chairman of the Ariet initiative group Atay Beishenbek uulu.
The participants of the rally noted that they had read on the internet publications of a possible production of bacteriological weapons in secret laboratories on the territory of the airbase in Kyrgyzstan. They sent an appeal to the leadership of the republic and declared determination to continue the peaceful protest actions outside the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek.
The U.S. air base on the territory of Manas international airport was founded in 2001 and is a major transport and logistics hub for the transportation of goods and transfer of the antiterrorist coalition in Afghanistan. The term of the U.S. airbase deployment in the republic expires in autumn 2014.
