Russian general Studenikin becomes CSTO chief of staff

Russian general Alexander Studenikin is appointed Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Chief of Staff, CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha informed. Its candidate was proposed by recently assigned chief of the General Staff of Russia's Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov.

Alexander Studenikin was born in 1955. He graduated from the Moscow combined-arms command school of a name of the Supreme Council of RSFSR, Combined-arms academy of the name Frunze and Military academy of the General Staff of Russia's Armed Forces. During the Second Chechen Campaign he served as second-in-command of Russia's Armed Forces on the North Caucasus. Prior to this appointment, he was serving under the commander-in-chief of the ground troops of the Russian Federation.

Earlier mass media reported that on a post of the head of CSTO Chief of Staff will advance the commander of airborne forces of the Russian Federation colonel general Vladimir Shamanov. The Ministry of Defence refuted these convergence later, Armenia Today transfers.
