Rogozin: A Chance to Create a Russian-European Missile Defense System Remains
“We are fully aware that if our opponents, not partners, unfortunately, had a good political will, in the negotiations, we could sum up efforts to create a layered, sufficiently reliable missile defense system across Europe. This Russia’s idea remains such despite the fact that today Americans are promoting a rather different system, in many ways sectarian, separatist idea of deploying a missile defense system, particularly in the European continent,” said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, during his visit to the Almaz-Antei air defence concern.
“We see that the Europeans realize that they can not consider blindly the deployment of foreign military infrastructure on their own land. Russia continues to offer its European partners to create a joint tactical air defense and we believe that the chance is still here,” said Dmitry Rogozin.
According to Rosbalt News Agency, he also pointed out that if the Americans refuse to deploy their ballistic missile defense components in Poland, and even more their plans for naval deployment in the northern seas, “there will be no measures of military-technical response, designated in the statement of President Dmitry Medvedev.”
